Need Help!!!
« on: November 14, 2011, »
No lights working with MR16. Express and Freestyle work. Checked PIC programming, OK. Checked all solder points, OK.  Any help would be appreciated.

Have you checked it with the test channels in Vixen or with xLights?

I find it easy to check with xLights with all channels selected to make sure I have comms then check the correct channel is set after that.

If you have a voltmeter, check to see if there is output voltage. If your load is LED, you may have the polarity swapped (and you'll get no lights).

Other basic things to check are:

1.  Is the Jumper in "Operate" rather than "Program Address"?
2.  If you gave it an address, did you move the jumper prior to setting the address?

I have several of these and have done the above more than once. :(

I have set the start channel to 1. Moved the jumper back to operate. I have checked output with a voltmeter. I have no output, but I have 12 volts input.

Do you have 5volts after the regulator ?
You can test it on the pic power pins. Number 5 and 14 (center of the pic)

Did you turn all 16 channels on full and take readings on each output?
If you are not getting anything then check the dmx input connector in fact move the cat5 to the output and see if it works

I do not have voltage on pin 5 and only have 1.1 volts on pin 14.

Found the problem. The 7805 regulator had a crack in it. I replaced it now it is working. Thanks to all that helped.
