LE 100uf Caps
« on: November 19, 2011, »
I have two LE's built so far.  Both self test fine, but haven't actually ran them live.

After building the two and starting to work on a Lynx Wireless DMX Tx/Rx v2 board, I found that I inadvertently installed 25v 100uf Caps in the LE's instead of the 35v 100uf Caps as per the BOM.

I know they are spec'd for a reason, but is the swap going to effect operation?  No biggie to pull them, but I I don't have to, I'll leave them.  Conversely, can I use the 35v 100uf Caps in the Tx/Rx board?

Thanks!
-Aaron

Im thinking as long as you dont go over the voltage of a capacitor it should work fine. Think of a capacitor as a battery, there fine if they are charged below there rating, but can be ruined if overly charged.

The orignal part number for the caps on the LE were 25V (140-XRL25V100-RC). They switched to the 35V part number because the orginal ones were no longer available.

So, you don't need to change them.
