Lynx Express not working
« on: November 20, 2011, »
I have 3 Lynx Express that were built and used with no problem in 2010.  They have been stored indoors since last year.  The first unit, channels 1-16 seems to be working fine as well as the third unit, channels 33-48.  The second unit with channels 17-32 does not seem to be working even though it worked fine last year.  When I say it is not working what I mean is the channel LED's will not light up when I do a controller test with Light Show Pro.  The DMX signal is going through this unit to the third unit.  Also the display on the second unit says channdl 17 which is the correct channel.  I have not started troubleshooting yet.  Any suggestions on the best sequence of things to try and determine what is wrong?

I would do a good visual inspection first. Cold Solder Joints, loose parts, fuses?

3.3V and 5V led lit? data link lit when dmx present?

Compare start up sequence of controllers, Same? lynx express 60 Hz.

Self Test, dsp1,2,3 pinwheel pattern?

Does led 16 channel 16 light when select button is pressed?

Try changing channels, and only the one bad express hooked up. Any change?

Also check for a missing dmx termination jumper.
Sam, who is happy he flashed his etherdongle with newest firmware!

I had the same thing happen to one of mine.  In my case, the "Remove for Wireless" jumper had fallen off.  Put that back on and it worked like a champ.

Hope it helps
