Smart Strings - 8 for 9....help for #9?
« on: November 28, 2011, »

After adding the extra 330 resistor to each of my 9 controllers, all but one seem to be behaving properly (before that, 5 of the 9 were screwing up).  The last problem is with one final controller.

I can individually access each node on the controller without any issue (zipping through them using Vixen's test utility), and I don't seem to have issues if I send the same color to each node (example, all red or all white).  But when I send a random set of colors to the string (using the "random" setting with Vixen), the string goes all white and stops responding to further commands.  The only way to clear it seems to be a power reset.  I can easily avoid the problem (I think) by dumping the random section of my sequence, but I fear the problem is going to bite me....

I'll probably go solder a new controller today, but this one sure is bothering me.

I'm happy to offer further diagnosis, but not sure what to test.

Advice?
