What Plugins for Vixen?
« on: December 07, 2011, »
I just downloaded Vixen and I am going through tutorials on youtube.

I am going to have RGB lights along the 1st and 2nd story roof lines and then 32 chanels for my LED lights in the yard.

What plugins do I want/need in Vixen?

Thanks,
Rick

The plugins to control Smart Strings/Pixelnet are in the wiki

If you don't have hardware yet none of them are needed. :)

Lets just assume I have the hardware.

5 - Smart String Controllers
2 - Lynx Express controllers

Looks lilke I will need - Vixen ver 2.1 EtherDongle output plugin

I did not see a plugin for the smart string controllers

Thanks,
Rick

You only need a pixelnet plugin for the dongle you will be using (USB or Ethernet). Not the SSC

So if you are going to use the EtherDongle then yes you got to the correct plugin

And for sequencing you will want to build an adjustable preview, but be sure to uncheck it when you are running a show.  There have only been 3 plugins I have every used.  The entec Pro for the Lynx DMX dongle, the pixelnet for the Lynx Pixelnet dongle and the adjustable preview.  All the others are for non Lynx equipment and if you don't have any of that you just ignore them.  I actually tried deleting them from my computer and got all kinds of errors so I put them all back although I may have needed to only put a couple of them back I have other things to do than try to figure out which ones were the real villains.
