Spec for replacement resistor
« on: December 15, 2011, »
What are the specs for the replacement resistor that was incorrectly included in the coop? I know it is a 49.9 ohm but is it 1/4 watt 1% tolerance? Just looking at a local source and what to make sure I get the right one.

Thanks,

Brian

According to the build yes, that is correct. 1% 1/4 watt 49.9 ohm.

Could two 100ohm be used in parallel until the replacements are received?

My guess would be probably not since they are a 1% tolerance, the voltage must be fairly critical, but I will defer to RJ on this one.

Local place has some 49.9s in their Mil Spec stock however there are no markings (so don't know the real tolerance). Unsure of whether to take them up on it or not.

She who must be obeyed is giving me looks with no Christmas lights going before Christmas.

If they are 49.9 ohms, it is 1% or even a tighter tolerance.  I would not hesitate using these on my dongle if I had some.

49.9 ohms is one of the standard 1% values.  The standard5% values near 50 ohms are 47 ohms and 51 ohms
