Change of triac, is there enough current?
« on: December 17, 2011, »
If I changed to triacs to something that needed 50ma each would the board be able to handle that or would I need to change other parts? I know the optocoupler is fine upto 100ma, but would the rectifier and the transformer be able to handle it. The triacs used on the board pull 10ma so there is a 40ma difference so there is a 640ma difference? Is there enough headroom for this?

Cheers Steve

The pic will not handle this well since the outputs are limited to 20ma. I expect problems for you with it.
