Dongle issue
« on: December 21, 2011, »
My show keeps stopping after awhile of running for some reason. When i go out where the computer, the green light on the dongle is off every time.  Is my dongle going bad?

Possibly the power saving features?

if I built everything I had parts for, that'd say 396 channels

you want to set the power saving features in your Operating system to never turn off the USB devices to save power.

Well yesterday i checked, i have all of the power setting to never power off, and i have the screen saver set t none. Last night i had the same problem again. So today i took the music cd out of the drive and i have not had a problem since. I am guessing the drive and the dongle is pulling to much or something so the computer turns them off. Never heard of such a thing, but who knows why that would cause an issue.

Its a hp desktop i refurbished and completely restored to factory new.  Its odd the cd rom drive & the dongle  was pulling that much that the computer started turning the power off. Rest of the show was fine, the video & sound was still running just fine, just no output of dmx from the dongle being off.

I am glad to hear you got it figured out.  I guess this means I can take the dongle pcb out of my car as it sounds like you do not need it now.

Merry Christmas!
