Was thinking of some rainbow floods and maybe some Rgb not the smart strings.

you want to make sure the power supply matches up with enough power to power the devices...

as far as the rainbow stuff, build the mr16 exactly as in the manual

I have used this supply from All Electronics: You are not allowed to view links. Register or Login  It's physically pretty small and has a 12A output.

I've been using the waterproof power supply sold by Holiday Coro. It is only 4 amps, but that's all the load I've needed. It is actually outside the case.

Here is the power supply I used this year to power my RB Floods. I had no problems with it & plan to use more of these next year to power dumb strips.
