Using LOR CCRs with xLights
« on: January 16, 2012, »
Thanks to Dennis Cherry, we finally understand what is going on when you operate LOR Cosmic Color Ribbons (CCRs) in DMX mode. I have documented the results in the xLights wiki here:

I have borrowed a CCR ribbon and tested it under xLights.

* When in DMX mode, CCRs operate just fine under xLights :)
* CCRs do not work in xLights in LOR mode :(

I have finished my testing of the CCR's in DMX mode using S3 and X-Lights.

Have used these dongles:

USB-485 LOR
Lynx Dongle
Etherdongle

The LOR USB-485 dongle works in LOR mode and DMX in S3 to the CCR's
The LOR USB-485 Dongle works in X-Lights using the LMS Standard file and outputs DMX to the CCRs'

Lynx Dongle works in S3 DMX mode to CCR's
Lynx Dongle works in X-Lights using the Standard LMS file and outputs DMX to the CCR's on 2 Universes.

Ethernet Dongle (E1.31) does not work in S3 at this time.
Ethernet Dongle works in X-Lights using the Standard LMS file and outputs DMX to the CCR's on 2 Universes.

Now finally got back to square one again and tried using a wireless connection on the Ethernet, Used 2 Universes with CCR's on both and worked fine until someone else accessed the wireless than a pause was noticed. So if you want to run E1.31 Wireless you need to setup a separate wireless network with only the E1.31 connected.
