Check Sum?
« on: February 09, 2012, »
Hey All, Finally had the chance to assemble the tester- works awesome.
I am doing my first servo board. When I program the pic, it says that it loaded ok, but when I try to verify, I get a failure at mem address....

I havent connected up yet to the  DMX dongle, but was curious what your check sums were. (420F is what I got)

Any information is always appreciated

It appears there's an issue with the ICSP header circuitry on the servo controller board. The PIC will program just fine (and will run correctly), but it will not verify successfully. I have reproduced your results. However, when I use the J1SYS adapter, both programming and verification works fine (420F is a valid checksum and works using the J1SYS).

Hopefully Mike can take a look and see what the problem might be. I suspect we'll need a possible mod for the existing boards and a revision for the next batch.

Speaking of mods......very minor report.....
The plastic alignment/ hold down pins on the RJ-45 jacks do not align wit the pcb holes.
The jacks nubs are too  close together, simply modified by cutting 1 of the nubs off, there is enough play in the pin holes to get the remaining nub into the board.

Im back at my bench now (class all day) I can connect yto DMX and test.
I used the pickit2 and got the check sum 420F.

Appreciate the help!

This info should be added to the wiki.
Also, I think the Bobcat devices should be listed on the main page.

SUCCESS!!! I did manage to knock over a soda can (empty) when one of the control horns that was still attached to my servo spun around.....oooohh the imagination is accelerating into hyper speed !!!!!
Thanks Dave and Mike for sharing this new avenue of blinky/flashy/moving-ness <res.
