rgb strobes
« on: February 28, 2012, »
I was on a site and came across this link for rgb strobes. They look cool but not sure if they will work with lynx equipment. Here is the link rgbstrobelights.com

Those look pretty cool. They run off DMX so they should work with our lynx dongles. looks like they will be available in march.

I wonder if you'll be able to mix colors.  I don't see how you'd get 50% intensity red with 80% blue to create an off purple.  Maybe you could get primary and secondary colors by selectively turning on the 3 channels at 100% each.

The description seemed to be incomplete in this regard...

This allows them to flash as normal but with intended color, red, green, or blue.

From the demonstration video above, these strobe lights run on an 8 bit technology which can display many colors.

Great!  One more thing to drain my pocketbook this year!  Looks promising though.  I'm just waiting for someone to figure out and reverse engineer them for the DIY community so we can see the $$avings :-)  Guess we'll just have to wait until March sometime.

Pretty cool!
From the looks of the innards pics, theres only one charging circuit, so doubt there will be any mixing of colors. Nice 3 in 1 unit though.

If you go to the video gallery on the right side of the page you can see that these can mix colors. Second video of the two is showing purples and yellows!

Very cool!

The pics appear to be of an alpha level board.   Seems to be some missing finishing touches that would need to be in place for use outside.   Not much info there yet.   Will be interesting to see the options on exterior packaging.

If you look at the cart, you will see that these were released this past Sunday, just in time for April 1.

(in other words, it's an April Fools post)
