i just hope they are the real deal...

i asked if they are 4 wire
yes...
i asked if each wire was a seperate color, red, green, blue...
yes...
i asked if they are common anode...
sure...

i think i should be fine. I hope that RJ still intendeds to come out with the pixelnet controller for dumb strings. I think that what i would use for these.
my backup plan is to buy more mr16's if they aren't ready for this year.

i just saw that the price went back up, but at least it only went up about $2.00   not too bad.

what are you guys build with your dumb strings?

i'm thinking of using mine for arches...  break them up into sections would make it nice.  i felt like using the smart string flex strips would be a waste of 120 individual controlable nodes, that i could use somewhere else.

i'm planning 10 over-the-driveway arches using the dumb ribbons. each arch will use 2x5M ribbons and be inside of pvc.  i still need to find out if that PVC will be rigid enough in this large of a span...  30'-40'

I bought 32 of these dumb strips. You are not allowed to view links. Register or Login

I sent an email to seller and asked him his lowest price. He said $19.00 a strip. Then sent him an offer for $19.00 a piece and he accepted offer. Not sure exactly what I am going to do with them. My first thought was to replace my four 18 foot arches with them. I was thinking of wrapping each arch with 8 strips each just like the incandescent mini's I use now. I would use Ray's 27 channel controllers and 12v 350w power supplies to drive the strips. I could fit 2 controllers and two powers supplies in one CG-1500 case. I hope heat would not be a problem. I live in CO where the weather is pretty cold at night.

The other option would be to outline the vertical lines of my house. All horizontal lines and windows I am using digital strips. I am also building twenty 2M digital strips placed on the roof of lower garage to create a piano/equalizer effect. Each strips will be placed about 10 inches apart from each other with coro strips over top of them. Similar to Fast Eddy's grass poles but on the roof.

I think the demand for these, just from this forum alone is pretty high right now.
19.00 is a very good price.
I am thinking the demand should slow down in a month or two when it warms up, and people start going outside again... :D

Based on my prior experiences, I highly recommend a good burn-in period prior to production deployment into your display.

Im using the sticky back to hold the strips to the PVC until everythng is tested, then using 30mm white shrink tube to cover the ends and the holes where the wires enter the pvc.

this is the space between the end of one strip and the wire entry way of the next. The shrink tube will cover both.

I'll be firing it up for the first time tonight and hopefully video to follow...
