How do you have it all set-up. Are you using lynx... Perhaps a diagram of your set up?

using Vixen, DMX dongle to drive it all. I do have a dedicated power supply local to the display, too much currrent draw to send it all over the CAT5 cable (2.8A full on white). I drilled and tapped 1/2 pvc connectors into a 5" PVC cap to hold the spokes. Then stacked the boards inside a 5" tube for weather protection with another cap to close it all up. I have a rigid pipe that is going to be pounded into the ground and threaded into the 5" tube to support the entire thing.

I bought 32 of these dumb strips. You are not allowed to view links. Register or Login

The price is good (especially the $19), but I'm wondering if they are sufficiently weatherproof (the claim is IP65).

1) How well sealed do they appear to be?

2) Is IP65 sufficient?  The literal descripton of IP65 sounds quite sufficient, but I notice most people are going for IP 67 or IP 68 on pixel nodes.

the IP rating would depend on your use. indoors, it doesn't matter. outdoors, but inside of something, it doesn't matter, laying on the ground in the middle of a puddle, it matters.

I just got my dumb strips in today.

I like the waterproofing on them. too bad the smart string flex strips cant be waterproofed ths way.

first pic compares smarts string flex strip (has an IC chip) and the dumb strips

second pic, i tried to get a closeup of the waterproofing, it's like it's a solid flexible plastic bubble with no air pockets.

look at the first pic, and notice the end where the wires come out. the black piece looks like it's loose....  that's the waterproofing! it's crystal clear!
