Etherdongle BOM?
« on: March 25, 2012, »
Hello all,

I was looking on the Wiki for an etherdongle BOM but could not find one.  I need to know the part number for the ethernet jack.  One of the pins broke on the one in my kit and I need to get a replacement.

the magjack should have...

two plastic stems
2 outside metal stems.
4 pins in the front
7 pins in the back

compared to the other jack, it looks like it's missing a pin. but it's correct in having 7

unless you actually broke one of the pins from above, this is a common scare at first.

I believe they added to the manual pointing this out to help keep people from thinking this. There is only seven on everyone of them.

Lol go fig.  I didn't look before installing only after pulling it out. I need to reexamine when I get home as I could have sworn there was a hole and trace where I had no pin...

There is a hole but no trace.  The hole is part of the part pattern and I left it in case we have to sub the part some day as some of the replacment parts would have the pin it just does nothing.

Sometimes it pays to be a little slow on building the kits.  I would have probably thought the same thing and pulled the jack for no reason.
