I am getting into smartstrings this year and noticed something that I have questions about.

I have an EtherDongle and USB Dongle both programmed for Pxelnet.  I have a RGB Flexstrip with 100 nodes.

I made a test sequence that does a chase along the flexstrip.

When using the USB Dongle I can notice some latency/hesitations/jerkiness in the chase.  With the EtherDongle I did not notice the latency.  Is this normal?  Any ideas what causes this?

I was using Vixen.

Check your CPU usage while playing the test sequence.  If one of your cores is above 50%, thats is the issue.  ie, if you have a quad core the CPU should stay well below 33%.  A faster CPU may improve the performance, but even on my quad core 3.4ghz CPU I see issues.  From my experience, using the Etherdongle provided a faster refresh rate and smoother experience than using the USB dongle.
