I do not believe that etherdongle pcbs have ever been made available to anyone.  So far they have only come in coops.

So when is the next E-dongle coop?  I got some LEs, some SS4, waiting on Aether II, just ordred some SSC among other items, but I don't have any way to test them.  I would really like to get in a E-dongle COOP....hint to the coop managers>

There is nothing wrong with having a usb dongle available.  I would also highly recommend that path so you can keep on keeping on.  Whenever the next ED coop is announced you can be sure that it will be around 3 months before it ever got in your hands.  That is 3 months that you missed out on testing your equipment and playing with sequencing.
