There's a lot of how-to's on building your own FM transmitter. I was curious about watts vs feet though.

Bill does your 1 watt with good line-of-sight transmit far?

There's a schematic for a 15 watt fm tranmitter that falls below the FCC limits (200 feet from house) that I thought about building.

Adam

My 1 Watt was more than enough to cover around my house.  In fact a .5 Watt would have done just as good.

Ok cool, now I have a better perspective on the whole fm transmitter idea. I am sure 15 watts might get me in trouble, if I made that.

I ran a 1 watt. Definite overkill. Had to install an attenuator to limit the thing. Still coulda got into trouble. If I had to do it over again, I'd buy a .2 watt. More than enough.

I have a .2 watt.  It went all the way down my street so it was plenty for me.  Sounded good too.  If anybody sees another one on eBay, post because I'd like to get a backup.  I have not seen them much recently.

24 March 2009  Hey all sorry for the lack of posts.

Here are some pics of a version 3 LE.  I had some Red anodized heat sinks arrive late last week.  As soon as I can get them installed I'll take some more pictures.  You may not be able to see the new additions to version 3 but there are power indicator LED's for 3v and 5V, a 2nd powered DMX out and on board diagnostics that run tests and use the LED's to display the testing outputs.

Yes I use 1/2 watt ones on my board and no this is not a requirement and I know that it is overkill I just like the way it looks.
I could lay them down but I decided to stand them up just like the 3 I did last year so I'm just continuing

Hello All

I have had a couple of PM requests to post some of the 15,000 pictures that we took while on vacation.
Below are some pictures of the Keukenhof in Holland.  This is by far the biggest group of flowers that exist anywhere.  We spent two days here and still did not cover it all.
