Aether II Addressing
« on: July 02, 2012, »
Have done multiple searches and can't seem to find an answer that will work.
I have LSP as my main sequencer, also have LOR S2, and just downloaded Vixen.
I'm trying to get the newly built Aether addressed.
Dongle is Ether Dongle. I've built a blank sequence in LSP and turned on the intensity to 182 percent on channels 182, 183, 184. Looped it and played. Flipped Program Switch on Aether got the red flashes the back on and got the white pop. No success talking to the Aether.
Is there a way to do this.

Did you flip the program switch back after programming the channels?

Just scrolled down to see the rest of you message.

Set all channels to zero... Including channels 182, 183, 184....BUT, channel 1 should be set to intensity 182.

I'm getting close now. Seems to be addressing but, the only colors I'm getting is Blue and White only?

The Aether2 has 4 channels.  Red (182 in your example), Green (183), Blue (184) and White (185).
May sure that you don't use the white (keep it at intensity 0) because it will override the levels on 182-184.

I seem to be missing something here. In LSP DMX my channels are in groupings of 3- R G B, where does the W come into the picture at if its at MY 185 channel, it's grouped with channels 185, 186, and 187, I gotta be missing something in this equation.
Gonna try to verify RGBW channels with xlights.

XLights gives me Green on A Blue on B and White on C, sliders. And I seem to be back peddling now xlights has them at channels 1, 2, and 3 and nothing on any other channels.
Gonna scratch it and start over with address.

I think the brand-new config has RED=0, GREEN=1, BLUE=2, WHITE=3
I don't think your programming took hold.

in lsp you can still use RGB to describe the device.  just remember to skip over the white.

AetherRGB-Unit1 = 182, 183, 184
AetherRGB-Unit2 = 186, 187, 188
etc.

if you want to have 1-channel controllers to turn on white, you can do so

AetherWhite-Unit1 = 185
AetherWhite-Unit2 = 189
etc.

OK Steve, I got it now, finally. The red was coming in at the previous channed had to move them all UP and like you said "discard" the white (when I finally located it).
Looks I need to iron out a few bugs, seems to be a little flakey in the fact that when it comes on in the sequence the light seem to flutter or almost strobe. Maybe thats just my sequencing, I'll get to working on that now.
Thanks for ALL your help, it took me a little while to get my head around it but now it all makes sense. "Yea Right"

Just a quick note.

If you have two or more programs running that can output E1.131 code then you can get weird lights flashing.

Example, say you are using LSP and its outputting data to the Aether but in the background you have xLights running. Both of them will be sending out information to the EtherDongle and the dongle will try to receive both of them. The result is weird light patterns, etc.
