Forum Issues
« on: July 13, 2012, »
I don't know if it is just me, but I seem to be getting a lot of timeout / internal server errors when I post a message.  If I go back and reopen the thread, my message has been posted but in the meantime I get the internal server error.  I'm using Chrome and several different Win7 computers and have seen this problem on everyone of my computers.  My desktop, my wife's desktop and my netbook.

Even if the serve does not crash it takes a relatively long time for a message to post and to get the screen back showing my posted message.

I've noticed the same thing as well.

It seems that if you are typing a response to a thread, and it takes a few minutes to type and you then hit post, sometimes it times out.

What I have to do is type out the response, then copy the response then I hit the back button on my browser, then hit forward on my browser, then paste the response and immediately hit the "POST" button, then 9 times out of 10 it posts the response straight away.

I don't think it has anything to do with your browser.

I have had a few error pages show up but when I go to the posting it's there.

Posting does occassionally take quite some time to accomplish.

That is the reason we have been seeing duplicate posts. The poster gets a timeout and submits another post. I think it is the transition between when the response is posted and the return to the topic page that is the culprit. Like usual, I could be totally wrong.

We've seen this in the past, and RJ took action to make it better.
Maybe there is a memory leak and a server reboot is needed??

when i access the fourm via Safari the "show unread posts" link doesn't show any results.  It seems to work fine from work on IE.

That's been a problem since Day One (or Day 12 or whenever it was that I got here).

I've noticed another issue with dual notifications about a new topic.

The first notification will take you to an error page that says:

The topic or board you are looking for appears to be either missing or off limits to you.

but the second takes you to the actual subject.

Just a quick update while posting this message I got the "Internal Server Error' message yet my post still occured.
