Mount Lens
« on: July 24, 2012, »
Ok I drilled my holes, and mounted it in the case. However, now the lens does not sit tight when the glass is closed, it actually very loose and will even fall off. What can I do to make sure it will not. I was think of maybe trying to glue a few small springs on the lens that the glass will push against to hold it in place.

On page 13 it tells you to use clear RTV if you have this problem. I used DAP brand Auto/Marine clear RTV which is 100% RTV Silicone available from either Lowes or Home Depot. I don't remember which. I made the mistake of getting Loctite RTV Blue the first time and of course it is blue. I used about a 1/8 inch dab on each of the 4 pegs that stick out toward the glass and let it dry. Then put the lenses on and the RTV acted like an extension to the pegs and touched the glass.

So is this the preferred method?  I have the same issue, space between the lense and the glass?  Just want to be sure I do it right as well.

Yes it is in the assy guide. The RTV dries to a hard rubber like quality and works fine. It stays stuck on the lens pegs so you can swap lenses with no problem.
