Okay.  I have gotten confirmation that the power module will probably be an issue with most people, but it is easily remedied as mentioned above.  The back tab may need to be trimmed down which can be done using a good pair of clippers (like the pair you use to remove your excess leads).  There may be some jiggering of the tabs themselves to get them to align as well.  The key is to make sure you have the tabs of the dc power unit make contact with the hole in the PCB and that you have a well soldered joint there.  The technology being used is very low tech and very forgiving and does not require finesse soldering to make happen.  Sorry that you all have to go through this extra step, however, this should not be a major obstacle for the DIY in all of you!

Is there a reason I'm missing why the ICSP header is angled and not straight?  I have some straight units that seam like they would make programming easier.

for the conductor. It should prevent you from having to bend the pins if you use a conductor/slave pcb on it.

The DC plug had to be substituted as they one for is not being made any longer. The newer one is the closest one we could find. It will work it takes a little tweaking to get in. The pcb will be modified on future units to handle the new part number but was these pcb were made for the previous part.

IMPORT NOTE - MEMBERS PLEASE READ!!

I have received a PM that the DC power adapter does not fit the board.  If you have an issue with the power adapter not fitting the board, I need to know immediately.  Since I have only heard this from one member so far, I don't consider it a trend and could very well be a 'one-off'.

Thanks,

Kurt

Also, Please let me know if you have any issues (missing or wrong parts, etc.) I am only human and do make mistakes.

Thanks,

Kurt

I had problems with my two kits.. Trimmed the back, and had to take alittle nip off the side one as well, then they fit without any problems.. Both kits are up and running like a charm!

Recieved my kit today.

Thanks for the coop.

Not sure what RJ was talking about if you are using a conductor you will not need to modify.
But I will see when I get the conductor.
What you don't know. Can hurt you.

The original design of the Etherdongle had a straight 6 pin (non-angled) ICSP header that you would have to bend to get it to fit with a daughter board (like the conductor).  In the latest release of parts (for this COOP) we shipped with an angled ICSP part to avoid you having to bend the part itself. The only side-effect of this change is that you will not be able to program the board easily when it is seated in the case with the mounting screws.  So make sure to program your board PRIOR to seating it into the enclosure.

Some fun facts (from Orlando):

Number of members in the COOP :107
Number of orders total : 143
Number of labels used : 2,288
Number of baggies used : 2,574
Number of parts sorted :13,871
Number of elves 'helping' :3 - aged 8, 11, and 14 - all of their 'work' was re-done due to QC issues *grin*
Number of spouses asking why I do this :1

I will be back in town on Saturday and will (hopefully) get the rest of the mailings done that weekend.
