Different type of RGB string node.
« on: October 17, 2012, »
I don't know what kind of chip is in the smart strings.
But I wonder if this RGB string would work?
For my application these would work great.

Those strings are Not Compatible with the Smart String Controller. The chart in the wiki lists all of the ones that will work. You are not allowed to view links. Register or Login

Key seems to be TM1804IC chip, 12 Volt, and 3 Wire which at least cursory search seems only Ray has that specific combo setup for us.

They won't work. You would need something like a sandevices e682 to control these or a dmx decoder that ray also sells.

Ray does have a new TM1804 model that I've not noticed before:

I wonder if it's the wrong picture, they have 4 wires going to them...  remember, even if you find something that meets the requirements of a smart string, the colors could still be off. If you proceed, make sure to buy a small enough sample that you wont be out (financially) in case it doesn't work for you.

Yes they have four wires. I think I will message Ray. See if he can find these the way DLA wants them.
This could work for alot of things.

There is also a speed setting. If you want to try them, start with a small sample to test before placing a big order.
