Xlights, LSP and Lynx Dongle
« on: October 23, 2012, »
I am attempting to run LSP V2.5 this year however I am told that there is some sort of conflict with it and the Lynx Dongle.  I understand that Xlights will play sequences that were written using LSP.  Does anyone know if this will overcome the problem with the Lynx Dongle or is there still a conflict because the sequence was written by LSP??

xlights runs its own hardware system so no it will not have a problem running the hardware no matter what software you sequence with. I have not kept up lately but I'm not sure matt has it running 2.5 sequences whithout problems though. you may need to read up on that.

I do not know anything about the conflict with the Lynx dongle. Do you have some more details on that issue? If it is something to do with your system configuration then I am not sure that xLights would be a solution. however; if this is an LSP problem then xLights should not have any problems.

You might want to go ahead and configure xLights on your machine and use the test functionality to see if the lynx dongle behaves properly.

If you want PM me the detials of your setup and I will see if I can convert your LSP sequences to xLights.

Steve,

Matt has not created a LSP conversion process as far as I know. Last year most people were doing LSP->Lor->run a few scripts->xLights.  I have a tool that can now convert LSP2.5 direct to xLights format.  It is not quite ready for public consumption but it does do conversions properly in one step... Hopefully I can release it for general use soon.

There is supposed to be a bug report on the LSP website however I have not seen or read it.  I was informed by another user.

Yeah, I can't see it either.  Must need to be an admin or part of their new QCC group to see it.

The LSP bug was discussed in both of these threads here in case you're curious.  No fix yet from LSP.

There is an issue with LSP v2.5 and the Lynx dongle. In version 2.0, the expresses had no issues - upon upgrade to v2.5, no more response from the Expresses.

I understand by reading through groups on their website and on DIY, that a workaround may exist and I am implementing it now.

From LSP v2.5, go through an Etherdongle(Pixelnet), to a 16-port SS Active Hub and pull DMX from the hub (there is a DMX Out port on the hub) to the Expresses.

I just flashed my Etherdongle with Pixelnet today and finished building an active hub last night - crossing my fingers.

You mean the DMX dongle does not work in the current LSP?
And I know the Conductor output does not work in the latest also.
Man this is not good.

Can't configure and/or get output on DMX Lynx USB Dongle
Unable to produce output using DMX flashed Lynx USB dongle
Tested a simple sequence with my Lynx USB dongle with dmx firmware and an Aether II that works perfectly with an etherdongle and I get no output to the Aether II. On occasion the output will configure, but no output.

I am about to release a tool (by the end of the weekend) to convert LSP 2.5 sequences direct to xLights format.  I was also working on conductor conversion and can probably get that included without too much more effort.  Is the conductor file format documented on the wiki?
