Help with Vixen and ED
« on: October 28, 2012, »
Hey guys,
I am missing something here.
I have my ED, Hub, and SSC's tested.
It all works with Xlights tester.

How do i get the ED set up in Vixen.
I downloaded the plugin and went to set it up.
It only shows com ports.
there is nothing on the com ports so it errors out immediately.

Anyway, i can't test at all, I get the com port error.
Thanks.

You must have the wrong plugin or you didn't put it in the correct folder (plugins output)

The Lynx EtherDongle plugin only shows the start and end channels

Well I am not sure what I am doing wrong.
I go to You are not allowed to view links. Register or Login and download the Vixen 2.1 pixelnet output plugin.
It is a .dll file.
I put it in the plugin out put folder.
When i create a sequence i see Pixelnet as an option for a plugin.
When i choose it i get an error com 1 not found.
So i click on the plugin and setup.
There is a drop down for the com port but i dont have any listed.

Like i said, I am missing something because Xlights works great.
however, Xlights uses a com 10 if i remember correctly.

make sure its the etherdongle plugin You are not allowed to view links. Register or Login

its called Lynx+EtherDongle.dll

unselect any plugin for the usb dongle.

The EtherDongle doesn't use a com port, it uses the ethernet port.

The name of the plugin you need to copy into the plugin -> Output directory is Lynx+EtherDongle.dll it will show up as Lynx_EtherDongle in the Vixen Outputs list.  It takes no setup other than the channels.

You beat me to it Rick :)

Wow, I might pick this up tomorrow.
I downloaded the plugin, put it in the output folder, opened the app, selected the plugin, the channels set automatically.
Tried to test channels and nothing worked.
opened up xlights and everything still works.

tried the channel test and when i hit all on, the ED flashed yellow very quickly and nothing else.

Getting close, nothing worked friday!!!
