So I was browsing the DIYC site and came across a thread talking about building an LED star (Sawyer Star as it was referred). There was discussion of using 2 8 channel DCSSR boards to control an 8x8 matrix of LEDs.
So excuse my lack of electronics knowledge, but could the MR16 be configured to control an 8x8 matrix of single LEDs to allow individually addressable LEDs? Could something like this be done?
Is it possible to use a combination of channels to represent a distinct addressable column/row in the matrix? For example, the matrix could be wired like the following:
1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8
9 A
10
11 B
12
13
14
15
16
So the idea is that to control LED A, turn on channels 1 and 9, B would be 3 and 11, etc, etc. But I'm just not sure of the wiring.
Please let me know if this is even possible. I know the LED tricks would do something like this, but I'm having problems even finding materials to build a board.
Thanks,
