It's been quite a while (2-3 years?) since I've been here, but I finally put together my Lynx Freestyle, Lynx DMX Dongle, and a couple SSR4's. So hello again!
Unfortunately, I have no lights. I'm on a 120v.
On the Lynx DMX Dongle, I'm pretty sure it works because I can start up Vixen and
Test Channels going from 100% to 50% and observe various voltage changes between pins 1&7 and 2&7. My CAT5 cable also appears to be good. I used the following pinout:
RJ-45 pinout
1. Data 1+
2. Data 1-
3. Data 2+
4. Not Assigned
5. Not Assigned
6. Data 2-
7. Signal Common (0 V) for Data 1
8. Signal Common (0 V) for Data 2
On the Lynx Freestyle, I checked a few of the channels on the RJ45 end of a connected CAT5 cable. I observed 4 lines with 5v which from what I read means
off and drops when
on. The voltage remained steady at 5v when using
Test Channels in Vixen when connected to the Lynx USB Dongle (Dongle
DMX Out to FS
DMX In and Terminated on the FS)
I had gone through the 4 steps from the manual and everything seemed to check out except I did notice the output from the transformer was about 8v (vs. 10+v expected). However, I have disconnected power since then and have now been checking over solder points and I just happened to check resistance between the AC IN ports and noticed there was basically no resistance?
Now before I plug it back in, this doesn't seem right and I assume this is not expected? I almost feel silly asking
... I've looked but don't think I see any mistakes but if this isn't expected, I've obviously missed something. Can someone point me in the right direction before I continue? Thanks
