CNC wire bender
« on: January 30, 2013, »
I saw this almost a year ago and immediately thought it would be fantastic for making repeatable wire frames for outdoor decorations.  The design company created an Instructable detailing how to make one with all the code included.  Right now there are two problems that would prevent me from building one right off, first it needs to be made stronger.  It bends aluminum wire and it probably won't be able to bend steel using the current plastic parts.  Secondly it is EXPENSIVE.  I looked a the BOM and the geared steppers are $160 EACH.  And you need three of them.  I still think it is neat so I thought I would share

Cool device but nowhere near big enough to do large scale wire frames.
If at first you don't succeed,
your not cut out for sky diving
