I was wondering the same thing. We will be purchasing a bunch of these things for our Halloween theme park, but it would be awesome if this could replace the show computer for Christmas too!

I think Matt was interested in buying one to try out. Matt is the programmer for xLights

So the only answer I have is Maybe  ;D

Maybe not being very much up on computers and have yet to put my first show together, how would this run a show if it does not have a clock on it. Do you not have to have an on-board clock for a show to run on a scheduler?

From wikipedia.

"The Raspberry Pi does not come with a real-time clock,[6] so an OS must use a network time server, or ask the user for time information at boot time to get access to time and date info for file time and date stamping. However, a real-time clock (such as the DS1307) with battery backup can be easily added via the I2C interface."

According to TIME's Techland,Premier Farnell is already all out of Raspberry Pis, and, unfortunately, Engadget reported that RS Components will only be shipping within the UK.

:( I missed it.

So, anyone in the UK that I could have one or more of these shipped to that could then forward the package to me (my dime of course)?

I ordered 2 - scheduled for delivery in mid and late April. That should give me plenty of time to get an xLightsRPi demo ready for the Academy.

Matt

BTW, it took me 2 hours to get those units ordered. Farnell's servers were completely overwhelmed.

From an email I received:

Thank you for joining the Raspberry Pi revolution and registering your interest in Raspberry Pi’s Model B board from RS Components.

We have received extraordinary levels of demand for this product. To help ensure as many people as possible can experience the Raspberry Pi concept, we are limiting boards to one per customer, and we will send you further information on your request in the next seven days. Once we receive the boards into stock, they will be allocated on a first-come first-serve basis, in order of when requests were received.

Thank you for your patience; we will be in touch as soon as possible with more details.

Sad article, but likely true unfortunately. I sincerely hope that they significantly up the next production run. Something like 10,000 times bigger would be good. And no, that isn't a joke.
